How will I know if counselling is for me?
If you haven’t had counselling before, it can be daunting - I can offer an initial 30 minute consultation session, free of charge, so you can see if this is something you would like to take forward with me.
How do I make an appointment?
Please contact me by phone or email (details on the contact page) and I will reply to you as soon as I can, we can arrange a suitable time.
How much does a session cost?
Initial 30 minute consultation session is free.
Individual fee £50 for 1 hour.
Couples fee £80 per hour.
This can be paid by BACS.
I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, otherwise the full fee is payable.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies enormously – for some clients they find 2 or 3 sessions helps to resolve something, for others it is an ongoing progress with no fixed number. We will talk about this in our first session together.
What days do you work?
I have availability on Monday’s and Friday’s, occasional evening sessions may be available.
Where will my session be?
I work in person, online via Zoom and on the telephone.
If we work in person, we will meet at Ambleside Parish Centre, in the centre of Ambleside, south Cumbria. The centre has its own free car park, disabled access, and toilets. The Centre, Vicarage Rd, Ambleside LA22 9DH
Who will know I am seeing a counsellor?
I will take your confidentiality very seriously and this is something we will discuss in our first meeting.

Testimonials
"Just a really genuine support, Katie who was dealing with me was amazing. So kind and supportive but yet genuine. Really has made a difference in my life." “My contact with Katie can only be described as excellent, and the five sessions we had were very helpful.” "Excellent support through every session by Katie. So good to have time to talk in privacy about anything + everything, with time to reflect and also being offered strategies to navigate this most difficult of grief journeys." --- ‘A friend recommended Katie at a time when I was really struggling with the grief and deep heartbreak after the break up of a long relationship. I felt comfortable in the sessions to work through my thoughts and feelings and Katie was always supportive and did not rush me, allowing me time between the sessions to work through the things we had discussed. I had been feeling very alone and lost with my thoughts and on an emotional rollercoaster with episodes of sadness, exhaustion and low mood. Katie’s thoughtful listening and positive guidance allowed me to express what I was bottling up inside and work on building my resilience which will hopefully help me to cope as I continue to navigate this new chapter in my life.’
